Terms of Service
License: GNU AGPL v3.0
1. Acceptance of Terms
Entropy is a self-sovereign communication tool. By installing, accessing, or using the Entropy software (the "Software"), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, you must cease all use of the Software immediately.
2. Distributed Governance
Entropy operates without a central authority. You understand that there is no centralized company "running" Entropy. The network is maintained by an independent relay, and the software is distributed globally. Consequently, we cannot censor content, recover lost accounts, or mediate disputes between users. You are the sole administrator of your communication vault.
3. User Responsibilities & Key Management
Security in Entropy is a shared responsibility. You are exclusively responsible for:
- Vault Credentials: Maintaining the secrecy of your master password and backup keys. Loss of these credentials results in permanent, irretrievable loss of data.
- Device Security: Ensuring the physical and digital security of the device hosting the Entropy client.
- Lawful Conduct: Using the Software in compliance with all applicable local, national, and international laws and regulations.
4. Open Source Licensing (AGPL-3.0)
The Entropy client and official relay implementations are licensed under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 (AGPL-3.0). This license ensures that the Software remains free and open, and that any modifications made to the Software that are used over a network must be made available to the public. You are encouraged to inspect, audit, and contribute to our source code.
5. Termination
You may terminate your agreement with these terms at any time by deleting the Software and all associated local data vaults. Due to the nature of the network, your cryptographic identity may persist in the contact lists of other users unless specifically revoked.
